The Company goal is to maximize the availability of the wide array of linen products with full inventory at all times, a variety of quality merchandise, exceptional service, and very competitive pricing.

George Courey Inc. is fortunate to service the textile industry including clothing manufacturers, quilting and crafter retailers, and fashion stores on a national basis.

The name George Courey Inc. is synonymous with customer satisfaction. This coveted position was attained thanks to the untiring efforts of three generations of astute and far-sighted directors, all of them profoundly dedicated to the human aspect of business relations.

TextilesFor over 90 years the Company has continued to grow to become a leader in the linen and textile field. Two brothers - George and Camille Courey in Montreal Quebec, founded George Courey Inc. in 1910. The Company's foundation consisted mainly of dry goods (fabric, apparel, and linens). By 1937, George Courey separated from his brother and formed George Courey & Sons with two of his sons. The Company continued to expand and included separate departments for men's, women's, and children's apparel, fabrics, draperies, retail and institutional linens, carpeting and linoleum. It was a one stop shopping area for retailers.

By the early 1950's there were four sons working in the business, each with their own responsibilities including merchandising, sales, and office management.

The Company continued to grow, and during the 1960's formed a subsidiary company for the expanding carpeting division with additional warehouses in Eastern Canada. Quietly the Company also expanded its Sales representation in each division to include all of Canada.

By the 1970's, two sons of Albert Courey were working full-time at George Courey & Sons in the linen and fabric departments. The four sons of George Courey Inc. were reaching retirement and by 1982 the third generation were in a position to acquire George Courey & Sons. In 1981, a branch office and warehouse was opened in Toronto. Increasing sales in the Ontario market necessitated a larger sales force and regional distribution centre.

In 1981, the Company was renamed George Courey Inc. That same year the ownership passed into the hands of three brothers - the third generation. At this time the divisions
were reorganized into two departments - fabric and linens. The fabric department consists of craft, quilting and fashion fabrics to the retail trade, and fabric focused for manufacturers. The linen department is divided into two groupings - institutional and hospitality.

George Courey Inc. has had extraordinary growth in the linen department since 1982. Branch sales offices have opened up throughout Canada including Vancouver, Winnipeg, Edmonton, and Halifax. In 2001, in response to the service needs of Western Canada, a new warehouse with expanded showroom has opened up in Calgary. With over 15,000 square feet of space, the ultra modern facility has a wide range of linens to meet the needs of the institutional and hospitality industries. Now all of Western Canada is quickly serviced within a few days. With the new facility, more inside and outside sales staff are on hand to serve the needs of clientele.

In the hospitality trade, the Company provides linens for bedroom, bathroom, kitchen, and banquet rooms for major hotels to small motels. The large array of inventory suits all needs of the hotel trade. The ever-expanding institutional division emphasizes linens for hospitals including operating room specialized linen, nursing and retirement homes, and other healthcare and institutional facilities including Provincial and Federal facilities. Linens are purchased from all over the world including Canada, USA, Europe, and the Far East. All linens are under tight scrutiny for quality control.

The 1990’s added another feature for George Courey Inc. The Company commenced full manufacturing of major linen products including the “Prestige” collection of quality pillows, “Courtex” mattress covers, and the luxurious fleece blanket line. The Company manufactures sophisticated operating room linens under the “Protection 2000” label. In 2003, the “Ovation” line of quality table linens has started, and it has received excellent reviews. To meet the needs of hotels in the 5-star category, George Courey Inc. has created the “Signature” Collection of sheets, towels and other linens of the highest caliber.
