For over a century, George Courey Inc. (GCI), has been a leading player in the Canadian linen wholesale market. Our industry and product lines have changed over the years, resulting in our success in the healthcare and hospitality linen industry over the last few decades. George Courey Inc. is synonymous with customer satisfaction thanks to the untiring efforts of three generations of astute and far-sighted directors, partners and employees, all of them profoundly dedicated to the human aspect of business relations.
In 1910, brothers George and Camille Courey founded the company in Montreal, Quebec selling dry goods (fabric, apparel, and linens) to the local market. In 1937, George took control of the company and created George Courey & Sons. In 1981, the company was renamed George Courey Inc. and the ownership passed into the hands of three brothers - the third generation. At this time, the company was reorganized into two departments: fabric and linens. The fabric department consists of craft, quilting and fashion fabrics to the retail trade and fabric focused for manufacturers. The fabric department has continuously been a leader in its industry. Meanwhile, the linen department is a mainstay in its two market groupings including institutional and hospitality. After 100 years of servicing the textile industry, George Courey Inc. now counts on the fourth generation of its founding family to carry on its commitment to combine tradition, reliability and innovation.
At GCI, we are committed to product quality and consistency. Through intuition and industry foreshadowing, we have become one of the country’s first importers of bathroom, bedroom and kitchen products. Constantly learning and adapting to change in the global marketplace, we have become one of Canada’s most sophisticated and largest importers of linens for the healthcare and hospitality industries. On a daily basis, we collaborate with our trusted partners in countries all over the world, continuously working to provide a consistent supply of well-made and well-priced items. In addition, we have maintained our domestic confection production, mainly for healthcare products, allowing for fast delivery and low minimum order quantities for specialty goods.
Our competitive advantage has always been in the customer service domain. Our services include, but are not limited to: advising clients using thorough product knowledge, keeping stock of the right products at the right prices and by providing a knowledgeable representative in all of the major centers across Canada. We have at least one company representative in each province, with multiple reps in Ontario, Quebec and Alberta. These reps specialize in both segments of the company’s core business; hospitality and healthcare.
Now having integrated the fourth generation, we have expanded the company’s facilities to cater to additional sales in Europe, the United Arab Emirates and the United States. We currently hold over 120,000 square feet of manufacturing and warehouse space. With the acquisitions of related companies under the George Courey umbrella, there is now over 500,000 square feet of space devoted to linen and fashion, including manufacturing plants in China and Canada.
We will continue to be in the forefront of linen and textile companies, with our strength in inventory, sales, customer service, quality control and above all a personal commitment to satisfy all of your needs.
